We are looking for dedicated and musically gifted students with a keen interest in their subject and music in general, and who are willing to present their talent in front of an audience.

An audition in which the applicant is expected to present two or three pieces of music from different epochs is a prerequisite. This audition takes place in front of a professional committee consisting of representatives of the two conservatories in Berlin. After a successful audition, ear training capacities and knowledge in music theory will be checked.

The individual schooling experiences of the applicant and possible conflicts with the German requirements, e.g. laws defining the compulsory education in Germany, will be considered with our headmaster. Objectives (aims) of the training will also be discussed.

International applicants

1. German proficiency requirements
We require non-native speakers of German to establish excellent German language skills according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR).

The required levels are

B1 (intermediate) for years 5 to 6,

B2 (upper-intermediate) for years 7 to 9 and

C1 (advanced) in year 10.

The certificate to prove the correct level of language (granted for example by the Goethe Institut) is to be submitted with your application. (Auditions can only take place if the certificate has been handed in.)

2. Residence permit
International applicants present the proof of a residence permit, e.g. an educational visa.

3. German-speaking contact persons
International students have to make sure that a German-speaking contact person living in Berlin is available to the staff from our school at any time. This does not go for students whose parents or legal guardians live in Berlin and speak fluent German.

4. Boarding school
Non-local students of the forms 5 to 10 are permitted to get an accommodation in the boarding school of the Staatlichen Schule für Ballett und Artistik (Erich-Weinert-Str.103, 10409 Berlin).
